posted January 10, 2011
Welcome to the Town and Village of Lima website. It is our goal to provide easy access to information that will be helpful to residents and others who have an interest in our community. We also hope to encourage citizen input by providing an efficient way to communicate with the Town and Village.
Find contact information for your local officials, agendas and minutes for meetings of the Town and Village Boards, the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals, information from Town and Village Departments, news releases, public notices, and reference documents including Lima’s Comprehensive Plan, Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan, Zoning Codes and Budgets. Access the calendar at the top of the page for up-to-date information regarding local events.
If your community organization would like to provide information or a website link to be posted on the website, please provide information to Jennifer Shanks, Town Clerk. Look for updates in the coming weeks, including more on-line forms, updates on Town and Village projects and information regarding community organizations.
Let us know how we can improve the usefulness of the website. Is there additional information that you would like to see posted? Can we make the site easier to use? Please e-mail us using the link under “Contact Us” on the lower right corner of any website page, or call us at 582-1130.

County Tax Rate Remains Level in Livingston County
posted November 21, 2011
At our Livingston County Board of Supervisors meeting last week we passed the 2012 budget with no change in the tax rate. The rate will remain at $7.68 per $1000.00 dollars of assessed value. The total spending across all funds is $142,009,399.00. Our fund balance usage remains prudent, with healthy amounts undesignated for undesignated needs in future years.
State government must address the challenges that exist in the area of mandated program expenses for counties in New York. In this tentative budget, approximately 93%, or $23,063,000, of our tax levy is consumed by just ten of what amounts to dozens of State and Federal mandates. Medicaid alone will cost county taxpayers nearly $9,300,000 in 2012, a staggering number. The State Legislature must pass legislation to assume complete fiscal responsibility over this costly program. In New York, Medicaid is a $1 billion dollar a week service that must be reined in – and removing counties from any fiscal burden is imperative.

New Yorkers Tell Lawmakers to Enact Mandate Relief!
posted 02/11/2012
Last week, NYSAC launched a citizen action website designed to help New Yorkers tell their State Lawmakers to enact mandate relief. The site, www.mandaterelief.com, includes a 3-step form that enables county officials and their residents to email their State Senators and Assemblymembers. Counties across the state are promoting the website and urging residents to spread the word!
